As part of its ongoing Colo 2.0 infrastructure improvement, Deutsche Börse will introduce an additional Mid-Layer switch between the Access Layer and Distribution Layer switches for Eurex market data. For more details, please refer to slide 4&5 and slide 30 of the "Insights into Trading System Dynamics" presentation (attached).
The purpose of the Mid-Layer switch is to:
- Accurately equalize cable length to the Access Layer switches, this is achieved by the physical proximity of the Mid-Layer and Access Layer switches.
- Serialize the connection from the T7 backend to the Access Layer by having only one connection between the Distribution Layer and the Mid-Layer.
- Achieve a more even distribution of market data to the Access Layer switches.
The Mid-Layer switches for the Eurex Colo 2.0 market data are planned to be activated on 19. August 2024 (A-side) and 2. September 2024 (B-side).
No action from participants is required.
Please note that as a result of the additional hop and cabling, all Eurex Colo 2.0 customers can expect an increased market data transport time in the range of ~150 nanoseconds.
